The Dallas Mavericks have taken a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves. This win was a testament to the combined efforts of the Mavericks’ superstars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The game also drew attention for an entirely different reason as the NFL legend Patrick Mahomes had predicted the Mavericks’ success earlier.

During his appearance on “First Things First,” the three-time Super Bowl winner outlined the Mavericks’ strengths that could potentially frustrate the Timberwolves.

I think the Mavs have what it takes. Kyrie’s been playing great ball, Derrick Jones Jr. has been playing great defense, PJ Washington plays defense and offense,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes also predicted that the Mavericks would be up 2-1 if Doncic and Irving played to their usual standards.

I think if Luka plays the way that Luka can play and Kyrie plays like Kyrie, they’ve got as good a chance as anybody of winning it all,” he added.

Mahomes’ prediction proved to be spot on, as both Doncic and Irving delivered stunning performances in Game 1. Doncic scored 33 points, dished out eight assists, and grabbed six rebounds, while Irving contributed 30 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Their combined 63 points were the main scenario in leading the Mavericks to victory.

Luka Doncic Extols Kyrie Irving’s Role in Mavericks’ Success

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s partnership has been a driving force for the Dallas Mavericks throughout the season. They did not even hesitate to praise each other after the Mavs got the ticket to the Western Conference Finals.

Meanwhile, once again, their chemistry was fully displayed as they secured a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals. After their victory in Game 1, the Serbian superstar showered praise on his teammate, comparing him with Anthony Edwards.

They got Anthony Edwards, but we got Kyrie Irving who can guard him, we’re ready to against anybody,” he said.

As the fans expect another win from the Mavs in Game 2, Doncic and Irving will look to continue their stellar partnership and lead the Mavericks to another victory. On the other hand, the Timberwolves will be determined to bounce back and even the series on their home turf at Target Center.

Game 2 is set for Friday, May 24, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. Stay tuned to get the latest update.
