Kobe Bryant‘s wife, Vanessa Bryant, posted a video of a recent trip to New York City, during which Vanessa and her daughters visited WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu. Kobe’s former mentee spent time playing basketball with Bryant’s 7-year-old daughter, Bianka, and left in awe of her uncanny resemblance to the Mamba.

Bianka Bryant impresses Ionescu with Kobe-like jumper

Bianka’s form on every shot stayed true. Her elevation and wrist flick follow through were beyond her years, reminiscent of Kobe’s iconic shooting form.

Thank you for watching

At just 7 years old, Bianka struggled to get the ball up to the full size rim in the video, but eventually got a shot to swish home while the New York Liberty guard rebounded for her.

“Shooting definitely runs in the family,” Ionesco commented proudly on Vanessa’s Instagram post.

Kobe Bryant and Sabrina Ionescu’s relationship

Ionescu is carrying on the mentor tradition that the Mamba started with her. She became connected with the Bryant family while playing college basketball at Oregon. Kobe and his daughter Gigi, now 13, surprised her at a game when the Ducks played USC in Los Angeles.

“They sat courtside, where my jaw sat dropped,” Ionescu recalled to the LA Times after his untimely death in a helicopter crash in 2020. “They watched the entire game. And that was the first time I met Kobe.”

She went on to help coach Gigi’s team as Kobe mentored her on and off the court. Now the relationship is coming full circle as she passes on that legacy to the next Bryant prodigy.

The Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has a large fan base, leading to increased fan engagement with the WNBA. As a result, ticket prices for games have surged due to Clark’s popularity. According to recent reports by Tickpick, a sports ticket-buying platform, the cheapest ticket sold for Game 1 of last year’s WNBA Finals in Las Vegas was $47. However, this season, the cheapest ticket for tonight’s Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever game is $120. Ticket sales for tonight’s game are triple those of last year’s Game 1.

Clark is attracting more WNBA fans due to her popularity, as Los Angeles star player LeBron James mentioned during a recent episode of JJ Redick’s ‘Mind the Game’ podcast.

Indiana Fever Back to Losing Ways After a Rare Win

The Indiana Fever could not mount a spectacular comeback against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday. Clark, who joined the elite group after achieving 50+ points and 15+ assists in three games, could only contribute 8 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in her 29 minutes of gameplay.

The Fever won their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, returning from an 11-point deficit. On Saturday in Las Vegas, Indiana was down substantially against the defending two-time champion Aces; nevertheless, the Fever could not recover. A’ja Wilson, Aces forward, led the Aces to a 99-80 victory over the Fever, scoring 29 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and dishing out two assists. The Aces improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Fever fell to 1-6.
