New interesting video footage shows the Chicago Bears trying to pull off a blockbuster trade at this year’s NFL Draft with an NFC rival.

No NFL Team had a more exciting draft than the Chicago Bears. They used the first overall pick of 2024 (obtained via the Carolina Panthers in the Bryce Young trade) on can’t-miss USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

And then with the No. 9 pick, Chicago found another prized prospect in Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze, who racked up 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns in his last season of college football.

Some interesting new video footage of Bears general manager Ryan Poles attempting to make a trade with Atlanta Falcons GM Terry Fontenot during round one has surfaced.

Poles wanted to move up to the No. 8 spot to ensure he could select Odunze, and he offered the No. 9 pick plus a future fourth-round pick. Atlanta decided to stay in the eighth spot and select Washington QB Michael Penix Jr., Odunze’s college teammate:

So it all worked out for the Chicago Bears, who got their man in Odunze anyway. Atlanta’s decision to draft Penix Jr. came as a major shock to many (including Cousins himself), considering they had just handed Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins $180 million in free agency.

Chicago Bears Are A Sleeper Team In 2024

The Bears finished 7-10 last season, marking their third consecutive losing season. The franchise also hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2010 season, when they beat a 7-9 Seattle Seahawks club in the Divisional Round.

But the Bears have the pieces to be a surprise playoff contender in 2024. Williams, Odunze, Keenan Allen, DJ Moore and D’Andre Swift round out a promising offensive nucleus, while the Montez Sweat, Tremaine Edmunds and Jaylon Johnson-led defense can only get better after showing some improvement from 2022.

Some new behind-the-scenes footage shows the Los Angeles Rams attempting to make a blockbuster trade during round one of the 2024 NFL Draft.

No team has been more aggressive in trades over the past decade than the Los Angeles Rams. Just consider that April marked the first time where they picked in the first round since 2016, when they used the No. 1 selection on California quarterback Jared Goff.

The “NFL Draft: The Pick Is In” program on Roku shared footage of Rams GM Les Snead speaking to New York Jets GM Joe Douglas during round one of the draft, with LA looking to trade up into the top-10.

Los Angeles offered the No. 19 and No. 52 picks to the Jets in exchange for the No. 10 selection. Douglas turned it down and instead dealt that pick to the Minnesota Vikings, who used the pick on Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy.

The Jets moved down just the one spot and selected Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu. The Los Angeles Rams stayed at 19 and drafted Florida State defensive end Jared Verse.

Before the draft, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Rams attempted to trade up for a top-10 pick. That obviously never transpired, but they nonetheless found a promising player in Verse who also fills an organizational need on the defensive line with Aaron Donald retired.

Los Angeles Rams Open 2024 Season At Lions

The Rams will kick off year one of the post-Aaron Donald era in a can’t-miss “Sunday Night Football” contest against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Sept. 8.

This will be a rematch of their thrilling NFC Wild Card Round game that Detroit won 24-23. The contest marked Matthew Stafford’s first visit to Ford Field as a visitor, adding more hype around the game.

Stafford and his Rams won’t have to wait long for the chance at revenge One way or another, the Week 1 showdown in Motor City promises to be highly entertaining.
