Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was happy with elements of the offense against the San Francisco 49ers but knows the turnovers have to stop.

The Kansas City Chiefs moved past the San Francisco 49ers 28-18 at Levi’s Stadium to move to 6-0, but there is ample room for improvement.

While the win is good and keeps the Chiefs’ undefeated start to the season alive, Patrick Mahomes’ turnovers have become the center of attention.

Two interceptions from Mahomes halted drives, but with the Chiefs defense stifling the 49ers’ much-vaunted offense, they weren’t made to pay.

For Patrick, execution is the only thing holding back the offense.

“I think just execution,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, we were able to run the football, that was big, that’s a real good defensive line, the offensive line stepped up, and we were able to run it down there. We found a way to get into the end zone, when you get points on the board, now its about cleaning up the turnovers. I think if we can do that, we can start hitting our stride.”

The run game had a huge say in the game, with Kareem Hunt (78 yards, two touchdowns), Mecole Hardman (38 yards, one touchdown), and even Mahomes, who had a 33-yard gain in the third quarter to help set up a one-yard rushing touchdown which he punched in.

So, while the Chiefs are 6-0, the turnovers must be slowed. The Chiefs’ offense has had a turnover in every game, and in three of them, they’ve had multiple. That’s a dangerous way to live.
