Daniel had shared a photo of himself with Lauren on his Instagram story at a bowling alley just two weeks ago, with the caption: “Friday fun date night.”
Daniel was a paramedic and star of the Channel 4 show 999: On The Front Line – which follows ambulance crews as they respond to calls.
Student mental health nurse Lauren’s mum Karen, 53, and dad Steven, 54, from the village of Pen-y-fai, near Bridgend, are said to be distraught.
The family were described as “quiet” by neighbours and often do things together.
Neighbours on Coed Y Cando, Pen-y-Fai, were “shocked” and said that Lauren was a “very friendly” girl.
One told MailOnline: “She always said hi and they are a nice family. This is a terrible shock for everyone.”
Another added Lauren, who had graduated from Swansea University, was “no trouble” and described her as a “lovely girl”.
