Draymond Green Was Suspended in 2016 NBA Finals For Attempting to Hit LeBron James

The 2016 NBA Finals rank among the finest in the league’s history. They featured the Golden State Warriors, who finished 73-9 in the regular season, taking on the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers, with Kyrie Irving serving as his second in command.

Draymond Green and LeBron James fought during Game 4 of the series, and Draymond Green was banned for Game 5. Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast” included Draymond Green sharing the story of his attempt to hit Bron that evening.

Green said: “I tried to hit Lebron and I got suspended for Game 5 of the Finals. You step over me I’m a grown a** man. You don’t step over my shoulder. There’s a lot of space on the basketball court, I don’t take up that much space. You don’t need to go over my shoulder. You go over my shoulder, you’re disrespecting me as a man.”

Draymond Green clarified that he thought King James’ actions were insulting. Following the game, he tried to strike the then-Cavaliers star. The authorities, however, prevented anything from happening. Subsequently, the league declared Draymond Green’s punishment for the series’ fifth game.
