Cody, 27, finished in fifth place in the 100-meter butterfly at the Olympic trials and commented on his loss – and revealed he would be returning to the music industry.

“It’s bittersweet,” he told journalists at the major event in Brisbane.

“But I did what I could do – and that’s all you can do.”

Just days before getting into the pool, Cody reflected on his time training to be an Olympian.

‘I’VE GIVEN EVERYTHING I HAVE’

On his Instagram account, he shared a snap of himself focused while swimming laps.

“I find myself reflecting on what a cracking last 4 years I’ve had pursuing my dreams and desires in this sport.

“Seems like yesterday it was 2020, getting back in the water raw and wildly unfit having not swum or competed since I was a little boy.

“I’ve given everything I have morning and night in training to see what I can get out of myself; burnt every boat I could burn in the pursuit.

“The physical and mental expansion that swimming has now brought me is huge. Along with all the dreams achieved in swimming for Australia.

“Thanks to all who have supported me on my ride. I do all of this for the 12-year-old kid in me. He’d be so stoked to know everything that’s happened. Guess he does ‘cause he’s me! See you on the other side!”

“We’re the same age and following your journey for a little over a decade has been mind-blowing, I can’t wait for what’s ahead, I’m super proud already,” one fan said.

A second wrote, “Beyond proud of you mate.”

Cody Simpson’s Career

In recent years, Cody Simpson has put his music career to the side to focus on swimming.

Cody Simpson began his music career by sharing multiple singing videos on YouTube.

He has covered hit songs including Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake and Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead Or Alive.

In 2010, he released his first single with rapper Flo Rida, iYiYi.

Months later, he was signed with Atlantic Records, where he released several albums until 2014 when he parted ways from the label.

He created his label titled Coast House in 2015 and released more music, with his most recent release being a self-titled album in 2022.

However, he switched his focus from music to swimming in 2019 and began competing in competitions in Australia with a dream of becoming an Olympian.

The musician excels in the Butterfly stroke.

On June 15, 2024, Cody unfortunately didn’t make the cut after placing fifth in the Australian Olympic Trials.

“Whatever happens, you’ve already won,” a third said before the competition.

“You should be very proud of your amazing journey!” someone else exclaimed.

CODY’S DOUBLE LIFE

In 2009, he began posting videos of himself singing hit songs including I’m Yours by Jason Mraz and Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake.

That same year, Cody signed with Atlantic Records and released 4 U (2010), Coast To Coast (2011), Paradise (2012), and Surfer’s Paradise (2013).

Cody also was a contestant on the 18th season of Dancing With The Stars and was eliminated during Week 5.
